BP disaster: Louisiana boat captain says BP is burning sea turtles alive

Conservation biologist Catherine Craig shot this video interview with a Louisiana boat captain named Mike Ellis, who claims that BP is blocking access to rescuing sea turtles, and incinerating turtles in oil. More here.

…Yea but saying that burning off the oil is the most efficient and cheapest way of fixing the problem is bullshit. Not only is it bullshit but it opens up the opportunities for people to bring up the brilliant idea of setting a nuke off to stop the oil, since, if the burning wasn’t so bad the nuke can’t be much worse. It’s an easy thing to say that it’s the lesser of two evils but it’s not. It’s just as evil.

It’s also much cheaper for BP than sucking up all of the oil they are collecting, hence the reason for doing it. They could get tankers out there, sucking up every ounce of oil and shipping it to holding stations which could have been built in the past 2 months instead of being bitchy little children. The burning is actually the greater of an unknowable amount of evils being perpetrated simply because it saves BP money. Is that really ok?

Bottom line, there are other, less destructive ways of collecting the oil, preserving the environment as much as is humanly possible, but it isn’t being done and…
