…Lakes State Park Boat Mania July 9-10.
The weekend launches July 9 at 7 p.m. with newspaper boat building. Guests can test the limits of their paper boat building abilities to see how their boat holds up. Participants should meet at the Sand Lake boat rental where the group will then walk to the Sand Lake north pier for launching.
As the sun sets, guests can hop in their boat or rent one (canoes $5/hour, kayaks $8/hour) and paddle to the floating campfire. Guests should bring their own marshmallows to roast around the fire.
The early boater gets the bird on Saturday morning at 7:30 as boaters join a naturalist to look for birds across Sand Lake and up one of the channels. Both novice and experienced bird watchers are encouraged to join. The excursion will take off from Sand Lake boat rental. Rentals are available.
At 9:30 a.m. boat races will be held for all ages and ability levels. Guests can race a canoe, a kayak and a rowboat around the course. Individual combined times compete for…
